Why to do CSR?

Why to do CSR (in China), what benefits there are to it?

In China charity has been a natural part of the culture for thousands of years. CSR is highly appreciated and even expected from a successful company. In the future Chinese government is steering companies to create CSR strategies. In Shanghai in Pudong New Area district companies are already expected to take part in a pilot project, where they report their CSR efforts to the district officials.

  • Due to low price level and uneven wealth distribution between individuals and areas it is possible to do more good with less money
  • Active CSR is the trademark of a successful organization and the efforts are evaluated both externally and internally
  • Successful CSR can be used as a strategic PR tool by the company
  • Existing company CSR strategy attracts more socially conscious employees
